Add Captions to Photos and Videos

Apple added a new caption feature in the upgraded iOS 14. Now you can add a description to a photo directly on your iPhone and iPad. This is an exciting feature as it allows you to include important and precious details about an event, a location, a moment that you wish to remember for years to come. And best of all, you can use the microphone to dictate your caption if you prefer not to type.

Below is an example of a photo I captured while hiking at Mount Rainier National Park. My iPhone captured the date and location but not the name of the specific hike. So with the new caption feature, I can add that detail to the photo and easily search for it later. The captions you add will sync across your devices and display in the Photos application on your Mac computer as well as on your iPad.
