Organize Your Photo Collection on Your iPhone & iPad
/Here’s how to create structure to your photo collection by organizing your photos and videos into folders, subfolders and albums in your Photos app on your iPhone and iPad.
Folders and subfolders contain albums. Albums contain groups of photos and videos. Subfolders are a great way to subdivide folders into more specific categories.
Below is an example of how to structure a photo collection:
Create a Folder
Tap ALBUMS (at bottom of Photos app)
Tap + (plus icon)
Tap NEW FOLDER
Type folder name, then tap SAVE
Create One or More Subfolders
In Albums, tap a folder name
Tap EDIT
Tap + (plus icon)
Tap NEW FOLDER
Type folder name, then tap SAVE
Repeat Step #3 to create additional subfolders
Tap DONE
Create Album(s) within a Folder/Subfolder
Tap ALBUMS (at bottom of Photos app)
Tap SEE ALL
Tap the folder name
Tap the subfolder name (if applicable)
Tap EDIT
Tap + (plus icon)
Tap NEW ALBUM
Type album name, than tap SAVE
Select photos (or skip this step and add photos later which is my recommendation)
Tap DONE
(Optional) Repeat Steps #6 — #10 to create additional albums
Tap DONE
Use Keyword Search to Find Specific Photos & Videos to Add to Your Albums
To locate specific photos and videos in your photos library, search using keywords. Apple has designed the Photos app to recognize thousands of objects and scenes. After you’ve located your photos and videos, save them to your newly created albums so you can find them easily later. Learn how here.
