Calla Lily Sighting From My Weekend Walk

While out on a walk, do you ever come up with ideas or several to-do items you'd like to jot down?

I do! 🤓 and since I have my iPhone with me, I find the Notes app most helpful in keeping track of things I'd like to remember. It's also great if I'm on the phone with a friend and she recommends an interesting book. I can easily add the title to my reading list.

The Notes app opens up vast possibilities for storing information you wish to reference later including checklists, scanned documents, handwritten notes, sketches and images. I discuss images like screenshots and reference photos in the 3-Part Photo Organizing Tutorial.

Creating folders in the Notes app is a must-do as it's immensely helpful for keeping information organized. If you haven't yet used the Folders feature, I have a feeling you'll appreciate it and have included the instructions in my tutorial.

Tip 1

Pin the notes you reference the most to the top of the Notes app:

  • From the list of notes, swipe right on the specific note and tap the orange pin icon. The note is added to the top of the Notes app as well as to the top of the folder where the note is filed.

  • To unpin a note, repeat the step above.

Tip 2

Reorganize your list of folders:

  • Within the Notes app, tap FOLDERS (top left)

  • Press on a folder, then drag to a new location in the list or drag on to an existing folder to create a subfolder

Tip 3

Search not only standard text within notes but also handwritten notes and text within scanned documents like receipts. Try it! Handwrite the word 'mango' in a new note and then search for it. If you don't see the Search bar at the top of Notes, swipe down within the app.
